
Elizabeth Joy Kelly is a creative and versatile soprano. In May, Ms. Kelly joined Opera Omaha for the world premiere of Stranger from Paradise. During the summer, she studied Gounod’s Juliette with the Utah Vocal Arts Academy. Ms. Kelly had the opportunity to perform selections at the Springville Museum of Art and the Opera in the Park concert in Orem, UT. Ms. Kelly once again joined Opera Omaha for their annual Opera Outdoors concert in August featured as Frasquita in scenes from Carmen. Later this fall, she is excited for the challenge of playing the title role in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Nebraska Opera Project.
Highlights from past seasons include Mimì in La bohème with Bay View Music Festival, Miss Pinkerton in The Old Maid and the Thief with Poor Richard’s Opera, the world premiere of Mary in Breath of God with Capitol Opera, and Noémie in Cendrillon with New York Lyric Opera Theatre.
Ms. Kelly holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Temple University (2010) and a Bachelor’s degree from Houghton College (2008) in both music and art. Ms. Kelly is originally from central Maine and can often be found teaching, playing the piano, designing costumes, and directing musicals.
